Block directions to my address on MAPQUEST/GOOGLE??

is there anyway so that peaple cant get dirctions to my address?|||Blocking your address is impractical when someone can enter your neighbors address or even the people across the street from you.

Short of demolishing one's house and living in a cave, there's no way to opt-out from Mapquest. You can opt-out your address and phone number from Google's phone directory but not from direction finding applications.

How can I use Google Earth to mark hotel stops on long trips, and find the distance for each day's segment?

I am going on a trip from Texas to Vermont, and am trying to use Google Earth to select my route. What I would like to do is have one set of directions, but mark the places I will stop over for the night, and have mileage between each stop over, dividing the trip into three segments. Is there a way to do this, or do I just have to create three different routes, one for each day?|||First, go to Google Maps (maps.google.com). Click "Get directions" and go from your address in Texas to your first stop. Then go to the bottom of the directions and click "Add destination..." and add your next stop. Then do this one more time, putting your final Vermont destination at the end. This will give you a trip from Texas to Vermont divided into three stops.|||sorry to say but you have to make three different routes have fun in vermont =)

Where can I find mapping and driving directions inside of Mexico?

Google maps works great for the US but I was wondering if anyone has a good site to find directions for driving city to city and place to place inside of Mexico?|||This site has to be the best....click on directions and fill in the origin and destination|||In addition to the Bing site, it is really wise to have a Mexican road atlas with you in the car. The Guia 'Roji can be found in large bookstores and on amazon.com. Really helpful when driving in Mexico.|||You can also use this site to calculate distances, toll and even estimate gas cost. It's my personal favourite but I do think bing has a better map function.

Where can I find driving directions for commercial vehicles? (in NY they can use expressways but not parkways?

with Mapquest there is the option to not use any highways but that does not serve my purpose. In NY commercial vehicles can use expressways but not parkways and neither Yahoo nor Google maps seem to offer options for those kind of directions.|||I know your pain. NYC is not very forgiving to commercial vehicles when they get lost or confused. If you have a laptop. PC Miler or similar mapping software for trucks will help %26amp; using trucking common sense when looking at the maps (angles of streets hold clues if we can make the turns or not). Online, try layover.com, a trucking website with loads of information, including routing. Good luck!!|||My Father owns a trucking company in NJ and uses PC Miler.

How do I use and work fv extenders on google for farmville?

I have already downloaded google chrome and fv extenders. But when I load my fv request page the button isn't there. What site or page should I be going to. Can someone please give me step by step directions on how to work and use the app.|||Start by opening a new Chrome window.

Near the upper right corner you should see the FarmVille Extender icon. It's a square with a wavy rainbow background %26amp; the letters "FV". (should be just to the left of the tool (wrench) icon)

Click the FV icon to launch the extender. This should automatically open a new tab displaying your game requests page.

Scroll down to find FarmVille.

Click the orange/red "Accept All" icon. Choose your options %26amp; away you go!

FYI: I'm currently using FV Extender 3.0, as I had some trouble with the newest beta version.

Where can I find driving directions from San Francisco, California to Buenos Aires, Argentina?

A friend of mine is going to Argentina, and although he has already decided to fly, I thought it would be interesting to see how to get there by car. I tried both Yahoo! and Google Maps, but neither of those sites could give me directions (in fact they did not even give directions to Mexico City. Mapquest did not give an option be to put in another country.

Oh, yeah, I just remembered- I don't think there is a road between Colombia and Panama- I remember a guy was talking about how he was on this expedition to drive from Tierra del Fuego to Point Barrow, Alaska and they had to hack a path for their Jeeps through the jungle, but that was the late 70's (it was on PBS at the time) Maybe one is there now. If not , a ferry might take you along the coast (not through the jungle, which is nice). It's probably a very dangerous trip, though.

When I google map my house, its not in the right place. the street is correct, but the location on the street is off by a couple of blocks. Its not really a problem unless someone tries to look up directions to my house using google. its correct on yahoo and mapquest.

I work for a furniture company, and when i need direction to a customer from google or map-quest they give me roads that our truck is not allowed to travel on. Of course, neither passes your no-money request.|||Well here in England, the only reason for a restriction on trucks would be either a weak bridge along the route, or a narrow residential street with no space for a truck to maneuver. Trucks go pretty much everywhere over here

Can I get directions from Goolge Maps for riding bicycles?

In the google maps , we always get the directions that tells you how to drive to some place , but i don't have a car, and i would like to know how i can get to the place by bicycle which would be better to follow than the directions for driving a car. Can anybody know how we can make the Goolge maps display the route for people who ride bicycles? Thank you very much!|||Currently Google Maps does not have that functionality, they only give driving directions. Your best bet would be to use Ask.com 's maps and select the 'walking direction' feature. This will display walking routes, which are usually accessible to bicycles as well. You may want to cross-reference this with the driving directions as many urban areas require bicycles to act as cars and only use roads instead of sidewalks, check with the local community's biking page (seach the community and 'bike' in Yahoo! or Google) to see about any local restrictions.

How come Google answers prayers and God doesn't?

I mean I put a prayer to be healed of my dry skin in Google...it told me exactly what to do. When I prayed to God he never did. I prayed to Google for directions to Disneyland, it gave them to me...turn by turn. God never did.|||google is real you see?|||About the dry skin....Here is what I got from God. One day or really 3-4 days I was fasting and I noticed my hands were dry and so I drank some water or alot and the dryness went away, and that was my answer from that day on for chapped lips or dry hands, I needed more water in my system, and that answer came because of a fast. So now when my lips are chapped and hands are dry I drink water even if i feel I dont need it and it works almost all the time, if not all the time. See thats Gods answers, you probably had to do a lot of other stuff and the real answer was easy.|||You don't pray to Google, moron, you SEARCH,

Google is for searching the internet, and praying is a matter of faith.

Plus, search engines mostly give you a ton of internet "manure" that you have to "shovel" through in order to get to what you originally intended.

How many times has Mapquest/Google Maps deceived you?

I'm just curious - whilst Mapquest/Google Maps provides a service, how many times have they deceived you in 1) directions 2) total mileage? Google Maps is the worst, they make you take U-turns everywhere!|||compared to when there was not such a service, I have no complaints|||Google Maps has repeatedly deceived me, three times in the past two months, I'm not using them anymore for directions.

Why does Google Maps show a street but can't give directions to that street?

Google maps does show direcrions. You have to do is click get directions and enter in both addresses and then you have it.|||This answer was not responsive. The street shows on the map and the satellite, but clicking on "get directions" returns "cannot find" the street. In other words, the direction-finding capability has not been updated to agree with the maps/satellite.

|||I don't know, but I use Yahoo Maps Beta. best maps EvEr!! You can use multiple pins and even search for a business. I started a job in neighborhood %26amp; was TOTALLY unfamilliar with, so I mapped it %26amp; found my bank, a vet %26amp; K-Mart along the way!|||Click get directions and enter in both addresses starting and ending!

What directions are more acurate, Mapquest or Google?

Im moving from Puerto Rico to Dallas , Texas.....and yes, Im a man who ask for directions...hehe|||Map Quest has always helped me and my husband but just recently we bought a Navigator System and I can tell you that it would beat Map Quest and Google at any time cause you don't need to be driving around with a map in your hands. Neither of the last two places I have lived are in the Mapquest or Google databases. And neither puts the "X" directly over the address. Sometimes, it is hundreds of yards away, at the nearest intersection.|||Google is more accurate, but neither is real accurate. Both of them get you in the general area, but you will still find things on teh other side of the road or intersection from what they say.

Ever since I've gotten my new phone, I've missed the VZ navigator the old line of phones had to offer. Now I have to deal with Google maps and it is very hard to drive and constantly check your phone to where you are going... The Motorola Droid does have voice navigation incorporate with Google Maps

It's very hard to find WiFi so how would I save a map and the directions to go somewhere? I'm using Google Maps and an iPod Touch.

If all hope is lost, I will go back to the way I used to do it. (Take a picture and view as image.)|||I have an iPhone without a data plan.

What I do is just find the directions in the Map app while I have wifi, and look around route in the map, zoom in on places of interest.

When I leave the WIFI area, the directions and a good amount of map data are saved in the cache. I can pull out the iPhone and look at the directions in Map app at anytime.

If I accidentally start a new map search, or change directions, it gives an error about there being no Internet connection, and my route disappears. So be careful not to do that!

Assuming the iPod Touch works the same way as my iPhone, you can do this too.

How to find direction in google map? i tried for it in my samsung omnia but failed, pls some help.?

I have recently bought samsung omnia mobile. Every thing is working perfect in google map- I mean I am getting my location blue dot and also 5 to 6 setalite and also blue dot is is moving as i move my mobile location from one place to another only problem i have is getting direction which always say one thing - no route found. I've found that the directions from Yahoo (haven't used Google, too much) are good in the lesser populated areas. 3 cups Rice Chex庐 cereal

3 cups Corn Chex庐 cereal

3/4 cup honey-roasted peanuts

1/2 cup barbecue sauce

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3/4 teaspoon onion powder

3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, pretzels, crackers and peanuts.In medium bowl, mix remaining ingredients until well blended. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.

If you have the old version of internet explorer, just press Ctrl + H and do the same thing, look for the google maps website under all of the recent days. Click on them and you will see all of the adresses you have typed in.

Is there a site where I can customize the driving directions?

Whenever I get driving directions from site such as MapQuest and Google Maps, I sometimes get directions that go on the highway and I feel no need for that for the particular trip I am taking. Is there any place where I can change the directions they give me to make more of what I feel like is an appropriate route?|||Just printing out a map from MapQuest and highlighting your own custom route would be an idea.|||it's called a road atlas|||A.A.A.

automobile club will let you map your own route with trip ticket and tell you what is the best or shortest or quickest way and you can choose what best suits jyour needs. if you are not a member, it is well worth the 35 bucks to join.

I know that it is a great value because I just joined and drove 5000 around the usa with their trip planner

How reliable are the Chicago CTA travel times on Google Maps?

I was wondering if the travel times are accurate when I'm looking for directions in Chicago using Google. I've heard the times are kind of inflated and the time spent on the El is actually shorter than what it says. Anyone familiar with Chicago transit to be able to verify this? There is no real set schedule to the buses or trains. However, the times on www.transitchicago.com are relatively accurate most of the time regarding how long a trip takes.

However--about 1/3 of the time your train will become stuck on the track for short periods of time. So, there's no way to ever know for sure.

Why cant i find directions to hogwarts on google maps?

I agree with jdee. I drove from Vancouver BC Canada to St. Pete Florida USA and mapquest made the trip at least 10 hours more than it needed to be. However at that time I didn't really know about google maps.|||i use mapquest more.|||Mapquest is easier to follow most of the time...!!|||Mapquest hasn't been updated for 8 years...it's inaccurate a lot of times...I would go with yahoo maps or google. The last few times I used mapquest it sent me on a lot of backroads which took much longer than the direct route would have.|||Try Yahoo maps. I used to use mapquest, but it is not always correct. Yahoo maps are easy to read, and you can see your destination before you go. Figure on traffic if it's on a major highway during commute time, and weather conditions like snow or fog if you have to choose which way to go.|||It would be a lot easier if you used the map I gave you and when you get to the airport just show your ticket to the person behind the desk.

Cars are not allowed on the El Monte Busway; why does Google Maps say otherwise?

When I asked Google Maps for directions, it said to drive a car on the El Monte Busway. This is not allowed. Why does Google Maps say to do it?|||who told cars were not allowed, they are allowed but you have be in a carpool of 3 or more passengers|||Google maps is similar to Mapquest in that they are not 100% correct. When I was a directory assistance operator for cellular calls (2000-2003), certain streets or locations where not mentioned; and when I was a delivery driver (2004-2008), I was given directions to the Compton School District but it mentioned driving through some side streets (where the gangbangers where), so it's not 100% true all of the time. Also if you do what they recommend, you'll have the Sheriff's Deputies or the Highway Patrol waiting for you at the other end!|||This might be a question better directed at Google, instead of Yahoo.

Having said that, wouldn't you think that a thoroughfare called a BUSWAY would be reserved for BUSES? Isn't it implied that this would be a road reserved for buses, and wouldn't it make sense to use your common sense and avoid it regardless of what Google says?

Google maps - transit directions - bus number color code?

What's the difference between the red colored bus numbers and the blue ones. I live in california, and the 20 is colored red, and the 1 and stuff is blue. It also says that my fares gunna be like ten bucks, when an all day pass is 5 for all buses and trolleys. Different transit agencies use colours for various purposes. For example, my agency uses blue for regular routes, green for express routes and black for night routes.

How to Thicken the path on Google Earth?

When you get directions on google earth and it outlines the path for you, how do you thicken that path? When it originally comes out it's super thin and you can barley see it.|||Scroll to the top of the "directions" pane (above "My Places" and "Layers").

If the sidebar on the left is not there, or not visible hold down Ctrl+Alt+B all at the same time. The sidebar will appear and near the top it will say 'Search'. Under that there are three tabs. 'Fly to' 'Find Businesses' and 'Directions'. Click on directions and put in the two addresses.

If, for what ever reason this doesn't work and for more options, like whether you are going by car or walking, go onto google maps.

So i went on google map directions, and it didn't help very much...?

is there a way i can alter what mph id be driving to my destination? because if the map is set to track like a car going 55 mph, i want to change that. because on a major highway id be doing like 70. and it would take me ther faster.

I believe they track it based on speed limits for the roads that you've been routed through.

Anyway, you can figure it out yourself. Math is fun!|||I don't see how changing the speed can alter the directions. You still go the same way whether you are traveling at 20mph or 200 mph

What are some good websites for driving directions, besides mapquset or google?

live maps is a good one. I would personally recommend microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 (a offline program). It is about $40. It gives you more options than any online planning site. for about $100, if you have a laptop, you can buy a gps reciver with the software. I have it. It is great!|||i like yahoo maps .....see what you think ...the directions always seem to be pretty on target

If i load a KML file into google earth, can i get it to create directions for me from it?

i have a route i intend to cycle, i mapped it out, now i want directions...how do i get them? i mspped it elsewhere and loaded the KML file into google...|||You can store route infomation in a KML file, it is just a set of vectors/points which google earth can link. You just need to make sure you have exported the infomation it needs.

Google earth directions or maps?

Ok. i have an old 74 chevy whos gas gauge don't work. until i do i need to have a way to see how far distances are. i ran out of gas in one spot and put two gallons in (with small gas can at that spot) and i know exactly where i drove so i would know how far i went on two gallons. so then i can plan where i go when to get gas. but i have done the directions on google earth and remember being able to change the routes but i can't. i don't need to use google earth maybe other online resources. i just want to know a directions type deal that will give me distance allowing me to change the route myself.|||http://mapquest.com

Which is better for directions: Mapquest or Google?

Do you have one you prefer over the other? Why?|||Prior to getting a GPS in the car I had to rely pretty heavily on the mapping services for directions. Although I found that both systems had areas they were good or bad at (geographically speaking), it seemed like Google was better more often. They may change by region though.

I also personally found it helpful that if you had an account on Google -- didn't have to be related to the mapping function) -- it would remember prior addresses you had keyed into the system without any specific user action required. You didn't need to label the address or assign other naming to it. It worked more like the "in line autocomplete" does with the browser address bar.

Last, I liked the print feature of the Google maps. Less cluttered and don't recall advertising on the printout.

I've gotten bad directions from both MapQuest and Google. In fact, two times now Google Maps has had me take a left onto a street where I should have taken a *right*, or vice versa. Google Maps also regularly tells me nowadays to enter a certain highway by means of an onramp that doesn't even exist. In fact, the Avoid Toll feature in Google Maps is not perfect; for some reason, it seems to think that it costs motorists nothing to take the Outerbridge Crossing from NJ to Staten Island.

So, if you want to be on the safe side, you have to use a small bit of independent verification before you use directions from either website. These days, I actually use MapQuest, Google Maps and Expedia for directions. Expedia is actually underrated, since it has a good sense of shortcuts and tends to have updated reports of construction delays.

[P.S. MapQuest is trying to catch up with Google though. It now has a Street View feature.]|||In my opinion, i prefer google over mapquest because the directions that google gives are way more accurate and it is not that complicated to follow the directions and stuff. Mapquest is not that great, I have always found it to be a pain in the *** because I will type in a address and it will lead me to a different location which i don't want.

GOOGLE is why better also because if you want to know how long it will take to walk to a specific address, it will tell you and if you are planning to use public transportation, it also tells you how long it will take to get to that location too.|||I personally prefer Google. I used to use Mapquest before Google Maps / Directions came along and it did the job but I find that Google gives better directions and knows all the shortcuts through areas that have heavy traffic. Google maps is also much easier to navigate. Mapquest still has that late 90's / early 2000's navigation feel.|||I like Google better it gives you better directions views and pictures from every address you input.|||Neither. Yahoo is more accurate.

Woman sues Google over directions claiming it supplied unsafe directions?

A pedestrian injured by a motorist while following an online route has filed a lawsuit claiming Google supplied unsafe directions.

Lauren Rosenbe used her phone in January to download directions from one end of Park City to the other. Google Maps led her to a four-lane street without footpaths that was "not reasonably safe for pedestrians," according to the lawsuit filed by the California resident.

The case has become a sensation on tech blogs, websites and cable television channels, with critics assailing the woman for ignoring her own safety to blindly follow online directions.

Does she have a case or will Google settle outside of court providing her with directions on how to kiss their @ss?

I walk and take buses, so I am concerned about the safety of walking in some areas, but I never even thought of that. Maybe they will now put in something showing sidewalks, but I think the lawsuit is ridiculous.|||Ha ha ha. Here in the US a woman WON a suit against McDonald's for them giving her a cup of hot coffee which she put between her legs and drove off, burning her nether regions. So this hysterical woman just might win. If a person doesn't have a lick of common sense, they can sue. It's out of this world.|||I would LOVE to be the judge on some of these also. Case wouldn't take ten minutes to dismiss and have HER pay attorney's fees.

Like the couple who sued the GPS company because they ignored a "winter" road closure sign and took a turn off, and nearly froze to death when they got stuck. It WAS 20 miles SHORTER than staying on the main roads! THIS was in February, in the Colorado "high country."|||Take the second left,
